So I finally got out to shoot some star trails and I have to say I am pretty pleased with my first attempt shot. Here is the one photo I got just two different edits. Feedback on which one you like best please.
I really like the 2nd image. I just think the blue makes it feel more... night-ish? Great shot either way. I'm going to go Google instructions on how to do this now.....
Yes, I like the coloured one best too. There's just something more mystic and alive about it.
I haven't done much star trails shooting, but I noticed that on the end of a few of the brighter star trails there's a sort of dot or "period". I wonder why? And then it got me thinking... imagine every 20 minutes or so (depending on the length of your exposure), you'd cover your lens for a while and take it off again, and so on. I wonder what it would look like to have dotted lines as star trails? Would that even be cool? I guess I should experiment myself with traditional star trails before I start thinking of modifying them up.
Anyway, good work! How long were your exposures, by the way?
Holy I never even noticed the little period thing at the end of the trails...that's so weird. I think you should definitely experiment with it. And my exposure was a little over an hour.
